Today

The sea is still.

A flock of birds circle
around the watchtower
testing flight.

The sky is a subdued shade
of melon-gray.

The sun is still yawning
sprinkling rays of light
from its breath.

The air is soft and gentle.

I am here,
a witness to this setup
for another beautiful day.
